ONONDAGA NATION, HAUDENOSAUNEE TERRITORIES — After three hard-fought games at the 2015 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, the Israel men’s national box lacrosse team sits atop the Green Division with a 2-1 record, earning a berth into the playoffs.
The blue-and-white meet Finland (2-1) at 10:30am on Monday in a first-round playoff game at Onondaga Nation Arena. The game will be streamed live, free of charge, at www.wilc2015.com.
Monday’s winner advances to the quarterfinals to play against one of the premier “Blue Group” teams.
Israel is 0-1 all-time against Finland; the teams met in a friendly in Prague in April, falling in overtime.
Kyle Bergman (8 goals, 3 assists), Chad Culp (5 goals, 6 assists) and Bryan Hopper (4 goals, 9 assists) lead Israel offensively, while Zachary Higgins has seen most of the action in goal for Israel, making 66 saves and allowing just 23 goals in three games.
