Netanya to host Haifa in first-place battle

One team will remain undefeated in the inaugural season of the Israel Premier Lacrosse league following Tuesday night’s meeting between Barak Netanya LC (2-0) and Haifa LC (2-0) at Shapira Field. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.

The hosts have been rolling the competition to date, with decisive four-goal wins over Tel Aviv and Ashkelon in Week 1. Haifa also boasts the same two victories, although their win over Ashkelon was a one-goal squeaker.

Both squads are well coached and will be well prepared for the highly-anticipated match.

Fans are encouraged to come early (6:30pm) to watch Netanya and Haifa’s U-19 Academy teams faceoff.

Players to Watch

Haifa LC

Justin Diamond, Boston University – Diamond was named STX Offensive Player of the Week for his seven goals and two assists in Week 1.

Nate Archer, Cornell – Archer’s been feeding Diamond and scoring some of his own. He had four goals and four assists in Week 1.

Ted Bergman, Wesleyan – Bergman leads the league in saves with 21, allowing just 11 goals for an impressive 65.6% save percentage.

Barak Netanya LC

Jesse Parker, Binghamton – Parker’s six goals is good for third in the IPLL. He had a hat-trick in both games last week.

Bryan Hopper, Hamilton – Hopper has four goals and five assists and is tied for the league lead in scoring.

Austin Wolf, RIT – Wolf was recognized for his stellar play on defense; he was named Bank Hapoalim Defensive Player of the Week.

Prediction:

This will be a tight one, but Bergman will continue to stand on his head and will be the difference maker for Haifa who will stay undefeated.
