Netanya jolts past Ashkelon, 10-6

NETANYA, ISRAEL — Barak Netanya LC powered past Ashkelon LC on Thursday night in the main event of the Netanya Lacrosse Festival at Shapira Field on Thursday.

Jesse Parker and Matt Greenberg both had hat tricks, with the latter being named EL AL Player of the Game.  Netanya had four other goal-scorers including Bryan Hopper who had two assists as well.

Netanya’s strong defense and great communication helped hold Ashkelon to only two goals in the first half.

Despite an outstanding effort from Ashkelon’s Mitch Goldberg, netting a season high five goals, and 12 saves from goalkeeper Juri Elohen, Ashkelon could not find their rhythm until the third quarter.

Netanya (2-0) hosts Haifa (2-0) on Tuesday at 7:30 PM at Shapira Field.  Ashkelon (0-2) hosts Tel Aviv (0-2) Monday at 7:30 PM at New Municipal Stadium in Ashkelon.
