Kraft Scholarship winners announced

As part of our ongoing commitment to develop homegrown lacrosse stars, Israel Lacrosse awards 16 scholarships annually to sponsor Israeli youth lacrosse players to travel abroad, to improve both their lacrosse and English skills by attending high-level lacrosse camps and tournaments.

We are proud to announce our 2015 winners of the Daniel & Wendy Kraft Lacrosse Scholarship.

Itamar Arad, Ashkelon Cats – The 14-year-old midfielder is a student at the Madayim School of the Sciences in Ashkelon, Israel. Arad will be spending a week in Baltimore improving his lacrosse skills at Dave Pietramala’s Petro Lacrosse Camp, as well as practicing with Baltimore’s JCC Maccabi Games team.
Lidor Ashtamkar, Ramla Peacocks – The 14-year-old forward is a student at Lilintal School in Ramla, Israel. Ashtamkar will be spending a week in New Jersey improving his lacrosse skills at GameBreaker Lacrosse Camp featuring Casey Powell. He will be hosted by the family of David Metzger of the Pingry School.
Liron Glam, Netanya Cowboys – The 16-year-old forward is a student at Ort Yad Lebovich School in Netanya, Israel. Glam will be spending a week in New Jersey improving his lacrosse skills at GameBreaker Lacrosse Camp featuring Casey Powell. He will be hosted by the family of Alon Berkowitz of Tenafly High School.
Sagi Hashai, Netanya Cowboys – The 17-year-old forward is a student at Ort Yad Lebovich School in Netanya, Israel. Hashai will be spending a week in Baltimore improving his lacrosse skills at Dave Pietramala’s Petro Lacrosse Camp.
Alex Mihailov, Ashkelon Cats – The 18-year-old midfielder is a student at Ort Afridar School in Ashkelon, Israel. Mihailov will be spending a week in Baltimore improving his lacrosse skills at Dave Pietramala’s Petro Lacrosse Camp.
Daniel Obreja, Ashkelon Desert Snakes – The 17-year-old midfielder is a student at Ort Afridar School in Ashkelon, Israel. Obreja will be spending a week in Baltimore improving his lacrosse skills at Dave Pietramala’s Petro Lacrosse Camp, as well as practicing with Baltimore’s JCC Maccabi Games team.
Shimon Smirnov, Tel Aviv Tomahawks – The 16-year-old forward is a student at Blich School in Tel Aviv, Israel. Smirnov will be spending a week in New Jersey improving his lacrosse skills at GameBreaker Lacrosse Camp featuring Casey Powell. He will be hosted by the family of David Metzger of the Pingry School.
Netzach Yosef, Netanya Diamonds – The 17-year-old midfielder is a student at Ort Yad Lebovich School in Netanya, Israel. Yosef will be spending a week in New Jersey improving his lacrosse skills at GameBreaker Lacrosse Camp featuring Casey Powell. He will be hosted by the family of Alon Berkowitz of Tenafly High School.

 

Following the skills camps, the eight Israelis, their hosts, and several other Jewish-American U-19 athletes will represent Israel in a series of exhibition games in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

The Israeli teens will be participating in the JCC Maccabi Games from August 10-14th before returning to Israel.

The Kraft Scholarship funds which were allocated for eight young women to travel abroad, will be support travel and food expense for several Israeli athletes who are competing at the 2015 FIL U-19 Women’s World Cup in Edinburgh, Scotland this summer.
