PATCHOGUE, NEW YORK — The Israel women’s national team rolled past St. Joseph’s College, 18-2, to open their New York training weekend at Danzi Stadium on Friday.
The blue-and-white took command of the game from the opening whistle, scoring the first seven goals of the game before the Golden Eagles got on the board at the 14-minute mark. The Israelis led 13-1 at the half.
Ali Steinberg (five goals) led Israel, while Rachel Ozer (two goals, three assists), Ali Curwin (two goals, two assists) and Jessi Steinberg (two goals, one assist) also had a big afternoon. Kim Dubansky and Emma Lazaroff added three goals apiece, while Jayme Verman chipped in an assist.
Blaire Nathanson (60:00, 7 saves, 2 GA) earned the win in goal.
8th-ranked Israel is back in action at 8:00 PM on Saturday when they take on U-LAX NY at Randall’s Island, before taking on 7th-ranked Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) for the first time at 10:00 AM Sunday at Cantiague Park in Hicksville, NY.
