Israel tops Team HEADstrong in friendly, 9-5

ALLENTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA — Israel scored six straight goals in the second half to overcome HEADstrong Lacrosse Club, 9-5, in a friendly at Iron Lakes Sports Club on Saturday night.

HEADstrong led 3-1 after the first quarter and 5-3 early in the second half, before defender Ben Scharf scored on transition to kick off the six-goal run. Ryan Rosenthal and the Israel defense held their opponents scoreless for the final 28 minutes.

Noah Hirshorn led Israel with a goal and three assists, while Grey Soule, Daniel Sussingham and Adam Wolf scored two goals apiece. Scharf (one goal) and Will Gettinger (one assist) also cracked the scoresheet.

Rosenthal made three saves to earn the win in goal.

Israel is back in action at the 2016 Philadelphia International Showdown on Sunday, with a doubleheader at Shipley School. The blue-and-white meet Hungary at 9:00 AM and Philippines at 10:45 AM. Both games will be webcast live at www.livestream.com/accesslacrosse.
