Israel Premier Lacrosse League to begin play in Summer 2015

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL — The Israel Premier Lacrosse League (IPLL) will officially kick off its’ inaugural season in summer of 2015, with 4-6 men’s teams competing in major cities across the Jewish State.

The league will be comprised of primarily collegiate players with NCAA eligibility remaining, and will operate with the purpose of developing future professional and international players.

With a focus on the next generation, Premier League teams will only be granted to Israeli clubs with memberships of at least 100 youth lacrosse players, and Premier League athletes will have internship and volunteer opportunities in coaching those young lacrosse enthusiasts — as well as in marketing, public relations and operations for their club. Affordable housing will also be made available to visiting players in the “Lacrosse Embassy” of each city.

“Our focus is all about the kids,” said Israel youth development director David Lasday. “We want to give collegiate athletes the opportunity to give back, while keeping their game sharp during their offseason. Our facilities, our coaches, and everything else Israel has to offer in sport make us the perfect destination for active NCAA players.”

The Israeli club circuit has held dozens of exhibition games to showcase the sport since 2011, and has declared a champion each year, but 2015 will mark its’ first full, competitive season.
