The Florida Southern women’s lacrosse program celebrated its latest achievement after graduate student Jackie Stoller was named the 2023 Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Year by the Sunshine State Conference (SSC). Stoller becomes the third player in Moccasin women’s lacrosse history to earn this prestigious honor.
Stoller is now in esteemed company, joining the ranks of Emily Santoli (2017) and Marina Jozokos (2021) as Florida Southern women’s lacrosse athletes who have earned the SSC Player of the Year award.
Throughout the season, Stoller tallied 96 points off 60 goals and 36 assists, boasting an impressive shooting percentage of .612. Her consistent performance was integral to the team’s success, contributing to their seven First Team and one Second Team All-SSC honors.
Stoller’s exceptional performances throughout the season earned her the SSC’s top individual award. As a midfielder, Stoller was a key player for the team, ranking first in the SSC for points per game with an average of 5.05. She also ranked third in assists per game with 1.89 and fourth in goals per game with 3.16. Additionally, she ranked eighth in shots per game with an average of 5.16.
Stoller’s achievements are even more remarkable considering her journey to the top. Originally from Wayland, Massachusetts, Stoller participated in the Israel Lacrosse Gap Year program before returning to the United States to play for the Florida Southern Moccasins. Before taking her fifth year with Florida Southern, Stoller played three years for the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. Her hard work and dedication to the sport has paid off, pinnacling in her receiving the Player of the Year award.
The SSC Player of the Year award is presented by College Ave Student Loans, and Stoller’s achievements are a testament to her talent and dedication to the sport of lacrosse. Her contribution to the team’s success this season has been remarkable, and she has cemented her place in Florida Southern women’s lacrosse history.
Stoller’s accomplishments extend beyond the college level, as she also played for the Israeli women’s national team at the World Lacrosse Championships and The World Games in 2022. Her talent and hard work have made her a force to be reckoned with in the lacrosse world, and her future in the sport is undoubtedly bright.
