Israel debuts at U-13 World Series

COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO — Team Israel made their debut at the U-13 World Series of Youth Lacrosse this weekend, and, while they struggled in action against the top American club teams, the team has several bright spots as they enter day two of the tournament.

Ryan Cohen and Jonny Leibowitz lead Israel with a goal and an assist each, while Jesse Delinsky, Harrison Gottlieb, Will Single and JT Rottenberg have each scored once.

Ashkelon LC’s Tal Noam and Ronen Abramovich, who are in the United States as recipients of the Kraft Lacrosse Scholarship, as well as Dvir Gilad have all seen action through the first three games of the tournament.

Gabriel Matricciani (70:00, 14 saves, 27 GA) and Joseph Barocas (50:00, 8 saves, 15 GA) have split time in goal.

Israel fell to Lax Factory (15-3), Mad Dog West (14-3) and Leading Edge Elite (13-0) in their first three games. The blue-and-white also scrimmaged Casey Powell’s World Lacrosse Foundation on Friday in a non-tournament match.

Israel (0-3) wraps up pool play against 3D Mid Atlantic (0-3) and Igloo Black Ice (2-0) on Sunday.
