Israel will be participating in the Philadelphia International Lacrosse Showdown, a four-country cup tournament which will be held May 27-30, 2016.
The event features teams representing Greece, Hungary, Israel and Philippines competing in a round-robin schedule and a set of playoff games competing under modified FIL rules. The tournament is in the Men’s (Senior) division, however, Israel will be fielding a predominantly U-19 team, a common practice in regional international lacrosse events such as ASPAC (Asia-Pacific Region) by international powers such as Australia or Japan.
The primary focus of the event is to raise funds, awareness, and conduct a massive equipment drive for the development of youth lacrosse in the four participating countries. All games are held in the morning to allow participants to spectate at the NCAA Men’s Final Four, which are held the same weekend at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
