Haifa surges past Tel Aviv, 9-8

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL — In a stunning comeback, Haifa LC overcame an early 5-0 deficit to defeat Tel Aviv LC, 9-8, in the main event of the Tel Aviv Lacrosse Festival at Wolfson Fields on Wednesday night.

Haifa outscored Tel Aviv 4-1 in the fourth quarter, with Polish national Jan Rydzak scoring the game-winner with four minutes remaining to complete the comeback.

Bradley Diamond (three goals, one assist) was named EL AL Player of the Game while Rydzak and Nate Archer added two goals apiece. Ted Bergman was outstanding in goal, recording 15 saves in the win.

Phil Sussingham (three goals) led Tel Aviv; Reuven Dressler made 13 saves in the loss.

Haifa (5-1) clinched the top seed in the IPLL playoffs with the win; they’ll play their home playoff game against Tel Aviv in the semifinals on Tuesday at Kiryat Gat’s New Synthetic Field at 7:30 PM.
