Haifa bursts past Ashdod, 9-3

ASHDOD, ISRAEL — Haifa LC rode a six-goal second-half run to overcome previously undefeated Ashdod LC, 9-3, at Ashdod Sport Club on Tuesday.

The game was tied 3-3 in the third quarter before Aaron Feinberg kicked off the six-goal blitz with a score in the final seconds of the frame. Andrew Landsman and the Haifa defense held Ashdod scoreless for the final 21 minutes of regulation.

Yochanan Katz was named EL AL Player of the Game with four goals for Haifa (2-1), while Eric Fischer also had a big day on both sides of the field, playing the first half in goal (30:00, 5 saves, 2 GA) and the second half on offense (two goals, one assist).

Feinberg added two goals for Haifa and Alex Sigel chipped in two assists. Landsman (30:00, 3 saves, 1 GA) earned the win in cage.

Alec Aloni (two goals) and Lidor Ashtamkar (one goal) scored for Ashdod (2-1). Andrew Copeland (60:00, 4 saves, 9 GA) was dealt the loss.

Haifa meets first-place Ashkelon on Thursday at 6:30 PM while Ashdod takes on Be’er Sheva at 5:00 PM. Both games are held at Kiryat Gat Synthetic as part of the Kiryat Gat Lacrosse Festival.
