Haifa blanks Kiryat Gat, 12-0

ASHDOD, ISRAEL — Coming off a tough overtime loss to Beer Sheva LC, Haifa wasted no time taking control of the tempo in their game on Wednesday evening at the Ashdod Sport Club in a 12-0 shutout.

Josh Bernstein got Haifa (1-1) on the board just 1:30 into the first quarter and was a consistent contributor, adding two more goals and two assists over 60 minutes to earn EL AL Player of the Game honors.

Seven players from Haifa LC put the ball in the back of the net, with multi-point performances by Bernstein (3G, 2A), Alex Siegel (3G) and Aaron Feinberg (2G).

Andrew Landsman (30:00, 2 saves, 0 GA) and Eric Fischer split time (30:00, 1 save, 0 GA) in the net for Haifa LC, leading the defense’s strong showing to earn the shutout win. Landsman was credited the victory.

Dan Kaufman (60:00, 3 saves, 12 GA) was dealt the loss in goal for Kiryat Gat (0-2).

Haifa returns to Ashdod Sport Club on Tuesday to take on first-place Ashdod LC (2-0). Kiryat Gat visits Ashkelon (2-0) on Monday in search of their first win.
