Be’er Sheva LC’s Ian Kadish was named STX Offensive Player of the Week and Haifa LC’s Chris Friedman was named Bank Hapoalim Defensive Player of the Week after impressive performances during the second week of the regular season.
Kadish had two breakout games, scoring five goals in a win against Barak Netanya LC (1-3) to become EL AL Player of the Game and then netting four to secure a second win of the week for Be’er Sheva versus Ashdod LC (2-2). Kadish currently leads the league in goals scored, with 12, entering the third week of play.
“Ian has not only been a consistent offensive threat from the midfield, but has also shown his leadership abilities within our huddles,” said Be’er Sheva head coach Joradn Hirsch. “He has proven that the experiences that accompany playing in the IPLL bring young players great perspective beyond the playing field. He truly understands the big picture of being an ambassador for Israel lacrosse and it is reflected in his play.”
Chris Friedman has been a standout player for Haifa (3-1) making an impact all over the field for the northern club. He is a dynamic athlete – a crucial component of the defense that shut out Ashkelon LC on Thursday night while also adding a tally in the 8-0 rout.
“Chris has taken his game to the next level during the last couple of weeks,” observed Haifa head coach Jeff Schwartz. “He has been dominant in the middle of the field, great on the defensive end and even scored the occasional goal. We’ve grown to lean on Chris on the D-end and we can only see him getting better in the weeks to come.”
The IPLL resumes on Sunday, July 10 with Netanya hosting Haifa.
