ASHKELON, ISRAEL — The Birthright/USA All-Stars wrapped up their June tour with a pair of wins over Team Israel on Tuesday night in a Mens/Womens doubleheader at New Municipal Stadium.

Following a pair of one-goal games last week, Tuesday’s doubleheader didn’t disappoint, with the All-Stars pulling out a 10-9 win over the Israel Men in a back-and-forth affair. Birthright led 5-1 in the first quarter, before Israel battled back and took a 9-7 advantage. The All-Stars dominated the final frame to grab a 10-9 win.

Drew Lazar scored four goals, including the game-tying and game-winning goals in the fourth quarter, while Jean-Luc Chetner added one goal and one assist. Jordan Eicholz, Noah Hollander, Joshua Karp, Bryan Rotarori and Max Satossky added singles for the All-Stars.

Jacob Silberlicht (three goals, two assists) led the Israelis, with Eric Fischer and Seth Mahler each chipping in two goals. Matthew Flapan (one goal, two assists), Ori Bar David (one goal) and Gabriel Leonhard (one assist) also cracked the scoresheet. Max Yavitt was impressive in goal for the blue-and-white, making 10 saves in the loss.

The Birthright women scored early and often to cruise to a 12-6 win over Team Israel. Winter Pisco led the All-Stars with three goals, while Jessica Mazliah added two goals and two assists.

Sarah Utting and Talia Land scored two goals apiece, with Jessica Kaye (one goal, one assist), Erica Rinsky (one goal), Charly Walter (one goal) and Bridget Horwood (one assist) also cracked the scoresheet.

Sarah Meisenberg (three goals) led Israel, with Marissa Tomsky (two goals), Shirel Fresh (one goal, one assist) and Taylor Roy (one assist) also chipping in.

ASHKELON, ISRAEL — The 2017 summer lacrosse season in Israel officially kicked off with the first of four exhibition doubleheaders featuring the Birthright/USA All-Stars at New Municipal Stadium in Ashkelon on Wednesday night.

The Team Israel Women, featuring several players from the blue-and-white’s World Cup Team, U-19 Maccabiah Team, and 2015 Euro Team, snuck past the All-Stars, 8-7, to open the doubleheader, before the Birthright Men returned the favor in a 10-9 nailbiter win over the Israel Men.

Sophie Bass scored two goals and one assist, including the game-winner with 1:12 remaining, to lead the Team Israel women past Birthright, 8-7. Israel led 4-2 at the half and 5-2 in the second frame, but Birthright battled back to tie the game at 6-6 and 7-7 in game that the blue-and-white never trailed.

Sarah Meisenberg (two goals), Yulia Gorobets (one goal, one assist) and Batel Elkalay (two assists) had big nights for the Israelis, while Taylor Roy (one goal), Shirel Fresh (one goal) and Ellie Rosenblum (one assist) also chipped in.

Alex Sportini (three goals) and Sarah Utting (two goals, one assist) led the All-Stars, with Jessica Kaye (one goal, one assist) and Jessica Mazliah (one goal, one assist) also cracking the scoresheet. Bridget Horwood, Charly Walter and Chasia Warshow each added an assist.

The Birthright men came from behind to upset Israel, 10-9, with a last-minute goal from Drew Lazar securing the win. The blue-and-white led 8-6 at the half, but the All-Stars scored four goals in the final frame, including Lazar’s game-winner, to secure the win.

Max Satossky led Birthright with three goals, while Lazar added two. Doug Utting (one goal, one assist), Jean-Luc Chetner (one goal), Zach Borges (one goal), Noah Hollander (one goal) and Bryan Rotarori also chipped in offensively.

Jacob Silberlicht led the Israelis with three goals and two assists, while Gabriel Leonhard (two goals, one assist) and Matthew Flapan (two goals) had big nights. Yochanan Katz (one goal, one assist), Jesse Hartman (one goal) and Sam Adler (two assists) rounded out the scoring.

The four teams will commence again on Tuesday night, July 20th in Ashkelon, for a rematch of the doubleheader.
