Bergman, Haifa stifles Netanya, 8-7

NETANYA, ISRAEL — Haifa LC (3-0) has climbed to the top of the IPLL standings with an 8-7 win over Barak Netanya LC (2-1) at Shapira Field on Wednesday night.

The win was sealed by the outstanding play of EL AL Player of the Game Ted Bergman who had an IPLL record 17 saves on the night.

Tied 4-4 at halftime, the teams continued to trade goals until Justin Diamond (five goals, two assists) scored the game-winner with four minutes left in the game to seal Netanya’s fate.  Haifa’s Nate Archer also contributed two goals and one assist to help his team capture the win.

Matthew Greenberg scored four goals to lead Netanya, while Jacob Reiner made 11 saves in the loss.

Both teams are back in action at New Municipal Stadium in Ashkelon on Thursday.  Haifa meets Ashkelon LC (1-2) at 8:30 PM, while Netanya faces off against Tel Aviv LC (0-3) at 7:00 PM.
