Be’er Sheva heads to IPLL Final with win over Ashkelon

BE’ER SHEVA, ISRAEL — Be’er Sheva LC went on an eight-goal burst in the first half to handily defeat Ashkelon LC, 14-7, in the IPLL Semifinals at Be’er Sheva Sports Center on Monday.

The win secures an appearance in the IPLL Championship Game for Be’er Sheva (5-1), who will meet Haifa (5-1) on Wednesday night at 8:00 PM in Tel Aviv.

The IPLL Final will be broadcast live on national television, with coverage beginning at 7:45 PM local. The game will be carried on Sport ONE and streamed free of charge, worldwide, at one.co.il.

Be’er Sheva jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the opening minutes, but Ashkelon (4-3) answered back with three straight goals to take a 3-2 advantage.

It would be Ashkelon’s only lead of the evening, as Be’er Sheva’s eight-goal run would give them the lead for good.

Brett Hackel (four goals, one assist) was named EL AL Player of the Game, while Ian Kadish (four goals, two assists) and Micah Stalarow (three goals) also chipped in.

Jeff Handman (30:00, 3 saves, 4 GA) and Jake Reiner (30:00, 4 saves, 3 GA) split time in goal; Handman was credited the win.

Caleb Brodie and Drew Saltzman lead Ashkelon with two goals apiece.
