Be’er Sheva hangs on to top Kiryat Gat, 12-10

KIRYAT GAT, ISRAEL — Be’er Sheva LC held off a late rally by Kiryat Gat LC to prevail 12-10 in the IPLL regular season finale on Tuesday at Kiryat Gat Synthetic.

Be’er Sheva led 12-5, but, Kiryat Gat (0-5) scored the final five goals of the match to end the game. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome Be’er Sheva (4-1), who clinched the top seed in the playoffs with the win.

Ian Kadish earned EL AL Player of the Game honors with six goals and an assist, while Dan Deutsch and Brett Hackel each chipped in two goals.

Silvio Bonetti led Kiryat Gat with three goals and two assists, with Mitch Turkey and Jacob Silberlicht — who got the spot-start for Kiryat Gat off the IPLL’s Designated Player List — each adding two goals.

Jeff Handman (30:00, 6 saves, 4 GA) and Jake Reiner (30:00, 7 saves, 6 GA) split time in goal; Handman was credited the win.

Dan Kaufman (60:00, 10 saves, 12 GA) was dealt the loss for Kiryat Gat.

Kiryat Gat will look to upset Ashdod (3-2) in the IPLL Quarterfinals on Thursday at 5:00 PM. The game is part of the Ashkelon Lacrosse Festival at New Municipal Stadium.

Be’er Sheva earned a first-round bye and will host the Ashkelon/Netanya winner in the IPLL Semifinals on Sunday, July 17th.
