Barak Netanya rolls past Be’er Sheva, 19-4

NETANYA, ISRAEL — Barak Netanya LC avenged an opening night loss to Be’er Sheva LC in dominant fashion, opening up 5-0 and 10-1 leads on route to a 19-4 win at Shapira Field on Thursday evening.

Jayme Verman led the “Bolts” with two goals and five assists, while Emma Lazaroff scored five goals and one assist. Sarah Andersen (two goals, three assists), Shirel Fresh (three goals, one assist) and Courtney Miller (two goals, two assists) also had big nights for Netanya.

Marisa Tomsky led Be’er Sheva with two goals, with Julie Wise and Samantha Nemirov chipping in singles.

Netanya (2-1) leads the WIPLL standings with Ashkelon (1-1) and Be’er Sheva (1-2) trailing heading into the stretch run. The double round-robin season will wrap up on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Shapira Field.

Be’er Sheva looks to rebound on Sunday morning in an exhibition match with the Maccabi USA Jr. team in Ra’naana.
