Ashkelon races past Be’er Sheva, 13-5

ASHKELON, ISRAEL — Sarah Utting scored four goals and two assists to lead Ashkelon LC past Be’er Sheva LC, 13-5, at New Municipal Stadium on Tuesday night.

The win puts Ashkelon (1-1) in the win column for the first time and draws a three-way tie with Be’er Sheva (1-1) and Netanya (1-1) following the first of two round-robins in the season schedule.

Ashkelon jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first half. Be’er Sheva showed signs of life in the second half with a three-goal run, but Ashkelon was able to answer back and cruise to victory.

Batel Elkalay scored three goals, while Megan Lerner added two goals and one assist and Jenna Baverman also scored twice.

Samantha Nemirov led Be’er Sheva with two goals and one assist.

Be’er Sheva looks to rebound when they visit Netanya on Thursday Night at Shapira Field. Opening draw is slated for 7:30 PM.

Ashkelon is back in action with a Friday morning exhibition against the Maccabi USA Jr. team in Ranaana.
