Ashdod stifles Ashkelon, 7-3

ASHKELON, ISRAEL — Andrew Copeland made 10 saves to earn EL AL Player of the Game honors, leading Ashdod LC to a 7-3 win over Ashkelon LC at New Municipal Stadium on Monday.

Ashdod (3-2) came out fired up, hungry for the win to push past Ashkelon (3-2) in the standings. Their stifling defense allowed their forwards to have control of the ball and find good opportunities to finish, putting them up 4-1 at the intermission.

Ashkelon was unable to contain Ashdod in the second half and their momentum continued, holding at least a three-goal lead until the final whistle.

Zach Penfil led Ashdod with three goals and two assists. Alec Aloni added two while Frantisek Kilma and Mikey Pfeffer each had one goal in the win.

Caleb Brodie, Ben Lassow, and Max Wendell each had a tally for Ashkelon.

Andrew Copeland (60:00, 10 saves, 3 GA) secured the win in the net while Gabe Gross (60:00, 10 saves, 7 GA) was dealt the loss for Ashkelon.
