2022 Hanukkah 8’s Tournament Recap

ASHKELON, ISRAEL – The Israel Lacrosse Association held their annual “Hanukkah 8’s” tournament December 23-24, 2022 on the Mack Family Field at the Daniel Kraft Family National Lacrosse Center. The tournament featured teams from all over the country filled with Israeli players playing alongside participants from the 2022 Winter Service Tip.

In the boy’s tournament, Sha’ar Hanegev (LSH) won the championship over Be’er Sheva LC 6-5 in OT thanks to the heroics of Spencer Cymbler (3g including the OT winner), Max Kukuy (2g) and Henry Waisburd (58% save percentage). For the camels of Be’er Sheva, Eli Friend (3g), Kevin McCarthy (2g), and Aaron Zimmet (55% save percentage) all played enormous roles in this exciting championship.

On the girl’s side, Ashkelon LC triumphed over Herzliya in the championship 17-12 behind the efforts of Shelby Sullivan (7g, 2a), Sara Mendelson (7g), and Sydney Proper (41% save percentage). Not to be outdone, Jane Hoffman (3g, 3a) and Ashley Auerbach (5g) made valiant efforts on behalf of Herzliya.
