U-13 World Series: Israel seeking US-based players

NETANYA, ISRAEL — The Israel men’s national lacrosse team will be seeking a medal on home soil at the FIL World Championships this summer, but the blue-and-white’s U-13 boys squad will be making their third appearance at the World Series of Youth Lacrosse just one week prior at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Denver, Colorado.

While Israel-based players — from Ashkelon up to Netanya — are being evaluated throughout the 2018 youth lacrosse season, head coach Casey Cittadino is holding a series of six US-based tryouts to build the US contingent of the team’s roster.

Cittadino will be holding tryouts in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Florida, New York and Texas to identify a 40-player roster which will participate in a weekend-long tryout/training camp in Florida where the final roster will be determined.

All players must be born on or after September 1, 2004, and must be considered eligible for Israeli citizenship per Israel’s Law of Return (ie: must have at least one Jewish parent or grandparent). All US-based players who are selected to compete on the team will be required to conduct an equipment drive in support of the development of youth lacrosse in Israel, and are expected to participate in a Lacrosse Service Trip to the Jewish State when they reach High School.
