Israel’s U-13 World Series of Youth Lacrosse team begins their 2017 campaign with tryouts for US-based players in New York this April.
The inaugural Warrior World Series of Youth Lacrosse presented by The Coca-Cola Company was held on July 2-4, 2015, in Denver, Colorado. A select group of U13 Boys lacrosse teams was invited to compete in three days of games against some of the best teams in the country. The event ended with Team 91 Crush from Long Island defeating the Baltimore Crabs in the Championship Game that was played at Sports Authority Field at Mile High and broadcast live on ESPN2 on July 4.
This year’s event will include US teams that have all reached the Championship Event through a series of Regional Qualifiers. Israel’s entry is one of a select group of international teams who have been invited to attend.
Age-eligible athletes from the Ashkelon Cats youth teams will travel to Denver to represent Israel and the city of Ashkelon in the World Series.
Israel Lacrosse will fill out the team with Jewish American players who will be invited to join the squad following a set of tryouts to be held in the United States. The tryout dates are:
Sunday, April 3rd in Parkland, Florida (time TBD)
Sunday, April 10th in Kings Point, New York (9am at Brooks Stadium – US Merchant Marine Academy)
Sunday, April 17th in Baltimore, Maryland (time & location TBD)
All US-based players must be born on or after May 1, 2002, and must be considered eligible for Israeli citizenship per Israel’s Law of Return (ie: must have at least one Jewish parent or grandparent). All US-based players who are selected to compete on the team will be required to conduct an equipment drive in support of the development of youth lacrosse in Israel, and are expected to participate in a Lacrosse Service Trip to the Jewish State when they reach High School.
