Netanya tops Tel Aviv to open season

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL — In striking fashion, Barak Netanya LC powered past Tel Aviv LC yesterday for an 11-7 win at the Nave Golan Sports Center on Wednesday.

Neck-and-neck through the first three quarters, Tel Aviv hung on with the help of impressive play by keeper Reuven Dressler with nine saves. However, they would go scoreless in the fourth while Netanya pulled away with four unanswered goals.

Despite falling into penalty trouble early, Netanya had no issue finding the back of the net – with six different goal scorers. Jesse Parker was outstanding, marking three goals to his name.  Bryan Hopper was named EL AL Player of the Game with three goals and three assists.

Tel Aviv’s Matthew Flapan stood out with impressive ground ball play and finished the game with two goals and two assists.

On Thursday, both teams are back in action at the Netanya Lacrosse Festival.  Tel Aviv (0-1) will battle with Haifa (1-0) at 7:00 PM, while Netanya (1-0) will face off against Ashkelon (0-1) at 8:30 PM at Shapira Field in Netanya.
