Kaufman, Fales named IPLL Players of the Week

HERZLIYA, ISRAEL — Sderot LC’s Max Kaufman was named Epoch Offensive Player of the Week and Be’er Sheva LC goaltender Payton Fales was named EL AL Defensive Player of the Week for their performances in Week 2 of the Israel Premier Lacrosse League (IPLL).

Kaufman led Sderot offensively in the the team’s 11-6 win over Kiryat Gat early last week, as well as the 11-10 nailbiting victory over Herzliya on Thursday. Kaufman combined for seven goals and two assists in the two wins.

Fales is credited with the defensive award on behalf of his team unit that frustrated Haifa for much of Thursday’s 11-9 win. Fales and the Be’er Sheva defense held Haifa to just three first-half goals and held off a frenetic fourth-quarter run to improve the team to 3-0. Fales finished with 21 saves and 22 goals allowed in 120 minutes of action last week.

The IPLL regular season continues next week as Sderot (2-1) visits Ashkelon (2-1) on Monday morning, while Be’er Sheva (3-0) visits Kiryat Gat (0-3) on Tuesday night.
