Caleb Dion Commits to Gap Year in Israel

ASHKELON, ISRAEL – Caleb Dion, a native of Parkland, FL who has represented Israel on the field since 2015, will relocate to Israel in October to participate in Israel Lacrosse’s Masa Gap-Year program.

Dion will live like a local, train, compete, and directly contribute to the grassroots development of the sport in Israel. The 19-year-old defender will have a prioritized opportunity to be evaluated to compete at the U20 Men’s World Lacrosse Championships, held in Limerick, Ireland from June 17-26, 2021, as well as other international tournaments.

Dion represented Israel at the 2019 European Lacrosse Festival Prague, Czech Republic where they defeated a European All-Star team in the championship game to take home the gold. Previously he was rostered on the U-13 2015 World Series Team in Denver, CO, and at the 2019 Heritage Cup in Philadelphia. He also competed for Israel’s U-15 festival squad at the 2018 World Lacrosse Championships in Netanya, Israel. Dion was a part of the 2019 Israel Lacrosse Winter Service Trip, growing the sport in schools and competing in exhibition play in Wroclaw, Poland.

“Caleb and his family are an integral part of Israel Lacrosse,” said Jacob Silberlicht, Director of Men’s Lacrosse and Acting Men’s Head Coach. “We are grateful that Caleb is coming to Israel to spend an extended period of time here. We are certain that he’ll contribute to our team both on and off the field.”
