NETANYA, ISRAEL — Barak Netanya LC took a new and youthful approach towards the defense of their championship, naming midfielders Drew Gallant and Logan Miller, and defenseman Ruben Narine as franchise players for the 2016 Israel Premier Lacrosse League season.
Gallant, who was a member of Israel’s entry in last year’s U-19 World Lacrosse Challenge in Six Nations, will make his debut in the IPLL with the defending champs. The 18-year-old midfielder, who has been a staple at William Penn Charter and Dukes Lacrosse Club through his high school career, begins his collegiate career at UMass in September.
Miller scored 33 goals from midfield for Claremont College this season, good for second on his team. The 19-year-old will be re-united with Barak Netanya head coach Pete Ginnegar, who also serves as his coach at Claremont.
Narine, who just finished his freshman season at University of Mary Washington, also suited up for Israel’s entry in last year’s U-19 World Lacrosse Challenge in Six Nations. The 19-year-old defenseman was a staple at La Salle before starting his collegiate career this past season.
Barak Netanya LC opens their 2016 season against Ashkelon LC on June 27th.
