An Exciting Way to Engage Young Jews

The Israel Lacrosse Gap Year program provides a unique way for Jews of the diaspora to develop a personal connection to and passion for their heritage and homeland. Participants can build their resumes, strengthen leadership skills, and positively impact local and global communities as ambassadors of Israel.

Live like a local

Participants will be housed in Ashkelon with their teammates in a Team Clubhouse. Ashkelon is a sister city of the US lacrosse hotbed of Baltimore and home to the Daniel Kraft Family National Lacrosse Center.

This thriving, diverse city is located on the Mediterranean with gorgeous beaches, ample culture, and active nightlife. It is also within easy driving distance of major cities such as Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Be’er Sheva, with countless enrichment opportunities and experiences. We’ll also organize guided excursions throughout Israel so our Gap Year participants can experience and enjoy all that our beautiful country has to offer.

Train with the Best

Gap Year participants will prepare on an NCAA regiment with daily lacrosse practice and bi-weekly strength/conditioning sessions. All athletes will be guided through training, preparation for competition, and general mentorship by our world-class coaches and specialists.

Training takes place at Israel Lacrosse’s Daniel Kraft Family National Lacrosse Center, the only lacrosse-specific facility outside North America.

Compete, grow the game, and see the world

Players will compete domestically in both league and exhibition games. In addition, athletes will have the opportunity to compete abroad in several prestigious tournaments in Europe.

Gap year participants will also participate in Israel Lacrosse’s formal coach certification program before taking the reins as youth coaches for teams in Ashkelon and the surrounding communities. Players will mentor local youth and serve as general ambassadors to promote the sport, recruit new players, and staff local events and festivals where Israel Lacrosse has a presence.

Gain, Hone, and Diversify Your Skills

Israel Lacrosse is a fully functioning National Governing Body of the sport – equivalent to US Lacrosse in the United States. Participants can dive deep into areas that interest them, build their resumes, interact with Israelis, obtain mentorship from experts in specific fields, and contribute in unique ways to the growth of lacrosse in Israel.

While Israel Lacrosse provides significant internship opportunities, basic classes, and options for extracurricular programming, our participants are also encouraged to enroll in online classes offered by US institutions. Based on past experiences with our athletes, one or two classes per semester offers an excellent complement to our Israel Lacrosse Gap Year experience.
