Israel Lacrosse is offering Jewish college lacrosse players a free trip to Israel to compete in a four-game showcase tour this summer.
Trip 1: June 11-21
Trip 2: July 5-16
During the free 10-day trip to Israel, participating athletes will contribute to the development of lacrosse by coaching young Israeli players, competing in exhibition games against the Israel men’s and women’s national teams, as well as touring the country to learn about what Israel and the region have to offer in sport.
Each tour is limited to 40 Jewish athletes (20 men’s players and 20 women’s players) who are active or recent graduates of NCAA lacrosse programs. Players from club lacrosse programs are also welcome to apply.
Participants must cover their own travel expense to New York for the tour, which is operated in conjunction with Amazing Israel and Taglit-Birthright. The trips are otherwise completely free of charge for Jewish athletes ages 18-26.
“This trip is a rare opportunity and experience to explore a beautiful country, discovering and building relationships while playing a sport you love – all free of charge,” said Israel men’s lacrosse director Seth Mahler, who first visited Israel on a Birthright trip in 2010. “The response to Lacrosse Birthright has been overwhelmingly positive and many past participants have shown their appreciation by returning to Israel to continue giving back through our organization.”
Taglit-Birthright Israel is a not-for-profit organization that sponsors free ten-day educational heritage trips to Israel for young Jewish adults, aged 18-26. Taglit is the Hebrew word for discovery. During their trip, participants are encouraged to discover new meaning in their personal Jewish identity and connection to Jewish history and culture.
Two separate 10-day trips are available this year departing from JFK New York International Airport on June 11, 2017 and July 5, 2017. Pre-registration is now open for both trips, which are operated in conjunction with Amazing Israel and Taglit-Birthright. Participants are responsible for covering their own travel expense to New York.
Athletes interested in this experience should register at http://bit.ly/AmazingIsraelLacrosse. Please note that all Taglit-Birthright eligibility rules apply and there are no guarantees for placement.
