PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC — The Israel men’s national box lacrosse team battled back to erase a six-goal deficit, but it wasn’t enough to overcome 9th-ranked Finland, who capped a perfect weekend with a 14-13 overtime win on Monday afternoon at the 2016 European Box Lacrosse Invitational at LCC Radotin.
The Finns got off to a hot start, jumping out to a 6-0 lead before Israel got on the board at the 20:00 mark.
With Finland leading 7-1, Israel went on a seven-goal run to take their first lead of the game.
Kyle Bergman led Israel with three goals and six assists, while Bryan Hopper (two goals, two assists), Seth Mahler (two goals), Aaron Mathias (two goals) and Danny Bialosky (two goals) also had strong performances.
Max Artz (one goal, one assist) and Cooper Levitan (one goal) added singles. Chris Friedman and Jon Rathauser chipped in an assist each.
Andrew Copeland (66:27, 14 GA) played the full time in net in a gutsy showing.
Finland went a perfect 3-0 at “E-BOX”, while Israel finishes 1-2. All three of Israel’s games on the weekend were one-goal deficits.
