SYRACUSE, NEW YORK — Israel forward Alec Aloni has been activated from the Me’et Machleef list to the team’s 23-man roster for the upcoming FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, which opens on Friday at 9:30 AM with an Israel vs. Serbia match at Onondaga Nation Arena near Syracuse, NY.
Aloni replaces Matthew Cherry, who was second in scoring for Team Israel in Denver’s World Field Championship with 27 points. Cherry is currently serving the Israel Defense Forces in the West Bank and was unable to receive clearance to compete.
The move is a “full-circle” one for Aloni, also an offensive threat, who was tabbed to travel to Denver last year but was unable to compete due to military commitments.
Israel defenseman Daniel Devery was also trimmed from the roster due to injury; Zachary Ross has been filed in his place.
The opening game will be streamed live, free of charge, at www.wilc2015.com on Friday at 9:30am ET / 4:30pm Israel Time.
